About

Aline Mayagoitia is passionate about social justice and anti-racist policy reform and seeks to enact big change within the theatre industry. Democratizing everything she’s learned through School to Stage is her calling.

Aline was born and raised in Mexico City to a family of actors and entrepreneurs. She started working professionally at age seven in commercials, telenovelas, and the Mexican revival of ANNIE.

Her family made the difficult choice to relocate to Austin, Texas, where Aline trained at Ballet Austin and chose to attend McCallum High School’s Fine Arts Academy as an Acting Major. While in high school she started working professionally at Zach Scott Theatre in the life-changing production of SPRING AWAKENING and decided to pursue this as a career.

After the insanity of the college program audition cycle, Aline was admitted to her top choice, The University of Michigan’s prestigious BFA in Musical Theatre program, where she enjoyed four psychotically busy years of exploring theatre from every angle.

Since graduating in 2017, Aline has performed regionally in IN THE HEIGHTS (The Ordway as Nina; Pittsburgh CLO in the ensemble) EVITA (Resident Theatre Co. as Eva Peron) INTO THE WOODS (Cinderella, Hangar Theatre) and KINKY BOOTS (Lauren, Hangar Theatre). She made her Off-Broadway debut in the New York Times’ Critic’s Pick FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: THE NEXT GENERATION impersonating her heroes: Bernadette Peters, Karen Olivo, Rebecca Naomi Jones, and many others.

Her work as a teaching artist through the Prison Creative Arts Project and Artists Striving to End Poverty (ASTEP) has been some of the most rewarding hours of her life. Through School to Stage she plans to build a small army of uncompromisingly curious and kind artists to power the next era of theatre.
